When the pressure in the valve chamber is abnormally increased, the pressure difference between the two sides of the valve seat defined by the sum of the annular area overcomes the spring force to push the valve seat away from the gate plate, so that the pressure in the middle chamber is vented through the gap between the gate plate and the valve seat member.
