What is the gate valve?

 

The gate valve refers to the valve that the closing part (gate) moves vertically along the channel axis. Generally, gate valve is not used for regulating flow. It can be used for low temperature and low pressure as well as high temperature. High pressure, and different media can be applied according to the different materials of the valve. Gate valve is one of the most widely used valves .

 

Gate valves are typically used in situations where frequent opening and closing is not required and the gate is fully open or fully closed. Not suitable for use as an adjustment or throttling. When the water is fully open, the water flow straightly passes, and the water flow resistance is small. It should be used on the pipe with a pipe diameter larger than 50mm, but if there is impurities in the water falling into the stern, it is easy to wear and leak.

 

According to the different movement of the valve stem when the gate valve is opened and closed, the gate valve is divided into two types: rising stem type and non-rising stem type. The rising stem gate valve that is stem exposed to the outside of the valve body. When the valve is opened, the stem extends out of the handwheel. The advantage is that the valve opening size can be judged according to the outer extension of the valve stem, the contact length between the valve stem and the medium is small, and the thread portion is basically not affected by the corrosion of the medium, the disadvantage is that the outer space is high. Non-rising stem gate valve is designed to fit inside the stem and the internal thread of the gate. When the valve is opened, the stem only rotates without lifting up and down, and the gate rises along the stem. The advantage of the non-rising stem gate valve is that the overhanging space is small. The disadvantage is that the opening of the valve cannot be judged according to the condition of the valve stem, and the valve stem thread is susceptible to corrosion due to long-term contact with the medium.

 

The check valve is also called a single-flow valve and can be automatically opened according to the pressure difference behind the valve. The function is to automatically control the flow direction of the liquid so that it flows in one direction and prevents it from flowing backward. The check valve is mostly used for the water supply pipeline. It has strict directivity during installation and must not be reversed.

 

Piston(Lift) check valve is the valve has a guide rod on the upper part of the valve core, and the guide rod and the valve core can freely rise and fall along the guide sleeve on the valve cover. When the fluid flows from left to right, the valve core is pressed open, when the fluid flows in the opposite direction. The spool drops onto the seat and the media is cut off.
