Floating ball valve vs ball valve

Author: Site Editor     Publish Time: 2018-11-13      Origin: Site

Floating ball valves are mainly used to cut off or turn on the medium, and can also be used for fluid regulation and control.

The ball of the floating ball valve has only the upper valve stem, and the ball can be slightly displaced, so it is called a floating ball valve. The trunnion mounted ball valve has a trunnion mounted shaft at the bottom of the ball to fix the position of the ball, so it can't be displaced, so it is called trunnion mounted ball valve.

Due to the pressure of the medium, the sphere of the floating ball valve is displaced and tightly attached to the valve seat to achieve sealing. It is necessary to consider whether the material of the industrial valve seat can withstand the working pressure. The ball of the trunnion mounted ball valve is trunnion mounted, and the valve seat is moved by the medium pressure, and is tightly attached to the ball to achieve sealing.

Here is the outline:

1.Compared with other valves, the ball valve has the following advantages

2.Ball Valve Features

Compared with other valves, the ball valve has the following advantages

(1) The fluid resistance is small, and the ball valve is the one with the least fluid resistance in all valves. Even the reduced diameter ball valve has a relatively small fluid resistance. (2) The switch is quick and convenient. As long as the valve stem rotates 90°, the ball valve completes the full opening or full closing action, and it is easy to achieve quick opening and closing. (3) Good sealing performance. The ball valve seat sealing ring is generally made of an elastic material such as Teflon, which is easy to ensure the sealing, and the sealing force of the ball valve increases as the medium pressure increases. (4) The stem seal is reliable. When the ball valve is opened and closed, the valve stem only rotates, so the packing seal of the valve stem is not easily damaged, and the sealing force of the valve stem inverted seal increases with the increase of the medium pressure. (5) The opening and closing of the ball valve only makes 90° rotation, so it is easy to realize automatic control and remote control. The ball valve can be equipped with pneumatic device, electric device, hydraulic device, gas-liquid linkage device or electro-hydraulic linkage device. (6) The ball valve passage is smooth and smooth, and it is difficult to deposit the medium, and the pipeline can pass the ball.

Ball Valve Features:

(1) The fluid resistance is small, and the full-bore ball valve has basically no flow resistance. (2) Simple structure, small size and light weight. (3) Close and reliable. It has two sealing faces, and the sealing surface material of the ball valve is widely used in various plastics, and has good sealing performance and can achieve complete sealing. It has also been widely used in vacuum systems. (4) It is easy to operate, and it can be opened and closed quickly. It can be rotated by 90° from full opening to full closing, which is convenient for long-distance control. (5) It is convenient to maintain, the ball valve has a simple structure, and the sealing ring is generally active, and it is convenient to disassemble and replace. (6) When fully open or fully closed, the sealing surface of the ball and the valve seat is isolated from the medium, and when the medium passes, it will not cause erosion of the sealing surface of the valve. (7) Wide range of applications, from small to a few millimeters, up to a few meters, from high vacuum to high pressure can be applied. (8) Since the ball valve has wiping property during opening and closing, it can be used in a medium with suspended solid particles.
